A recent test by the German automobile club ADAC shows that up to 25 percent of the electricity used to charge an electric car never reaches the battery.
According to the test, a significant share of the energy drawn from the charging point is lost during the charging process. Losses of up to a quarter mean that motorists may need more electricity than the vehicle battery ultimately stores.
The ADAC findings highlight the difference between the energy supplied at the charger and the energy actually stored in the car.
